Joint UR CS/ECE Faculty Opening

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Department of Computer Science request applications for a joint faculty opening in computer systems and engineering. Both senior and junior candidates will be considered. Areas of interest include but are not limited to embedded systems, parallel and multicore systems, storage and interconnects, emerging technology (optical, nano), technology-driven design, and biologically-inspired computing. The successful candidate is expected to lead a vigorous research program as well as to teach in the area of computer systems and architecture. The ECE and CS Departments are collocated in the same building and are in the midst of an expansion of their faculty sizes. Presently, the two departments have 35 faculty members, over 100 Ph.D. students, and an undergraduate student to faculty member ratio that encourages significant undergraduate research participation. The two departments are engaged in multiple collaborative ventures with other departments and centers in the College of Arts, Science, and Engineering, the School of Medicine and Dentistry, and the Laboratory for Laser Energetics, and play a leadership role in the University’s strategic plans. The region offers multiple opportunities for collaboration with industry and provides a high quality of life.
